Body Frame Size Calculator

Determine whether you have a small, medium or large body frame using height and wrist circumference.

What is Body Frame Size?

Body frame size is a useful adjustment when interpreting ideal weight charts. People with a large frame naturally carry more bone and connective tissue and may sit at the upper end of healthy weight ranges without excess fat. Wrist circumference is preferred over elbow because the wrist contains relatively little soft tissue and reflects skeletal size.

How is it calculated?

Frame size = height (cm) ÷ wrist circumference (cm). For men: >10.4 small, 9.6–10.4 medium, <9.6 large. For women: >11.0 small, 10.1–11.0 medium, <10.1 large.
