QUICKI Calculator
Calculate QUICKI — a logarithmic measure of insulin sensitivity, often more linear than HOMA-IR across the full range.
What is QUICKI?
The Quantitative Insulin Sensitivity Check Index (QUICKI), introduced by Katz et al. in 2000, is a log-transformed alternative to HOMA-IR that produces a more linear relationship with the gold-standard glucose clamp test. Higher numbers mean better insulin sensitivity.
How is it calculated?
QUICKI = 1 / [log(fasting insulin μU/mL) + log(fasting glucose mg/dL)]. Healthy adults typically score around 0.38; values below 0.34 suggest insulin resistance.
Frequently Asked Questions
- HOMA-IR or QUICKI?
- Both reflect the same biology; report whichever your doctor prefers.
- How are samples drawn?
- Single fasting blood draw is enough.
- Can apps use these?
- Yes — many lifestyle apps integrate QUICKI for trend tracking.
