STOP-BANG Calculator
Score the STOP-BANG questionnaire — an 8-question validated screen for obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA).
What is STOP-BANG?
STOP-BANG combines four subjective questions (Snore, Tired, Observed apnea, Pressure) with four objective measures (BMI, Age, Neck, Gender). It was developed by Chung et al. and is widely used pre-operatively to flag patients who may need extra airway management.
How is it calculated?
Score = number of "yes" answers (0–8). Risk: 0–2 low, 3–4 intermediate, 5+ high. Patients with a score ≥ 5 are typically referred for a polysomnography study.
