Overweight Calculator

Calculate exactly how many kilograms you are above the upper end of the healthy BMI range.

What is Overweight?

This calculator translates BMI into something you can act on. Knowing you are "overweight" is less actionable than knowing you are 6.4 kg above your healthy maximum. The figure helps set realistic deficit targets and tracks progress without obsessing over the scale.

How is it calculated?

Healthy maximum weight = 24.9 × height (m)². Excess = max(0, current weight − healthy maximum). A 500 kcal/day deficit yields about 0.5 kg/week, so excess kg ÷ 0.5 ≈ weeks to reach the upper end of healthy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is BMI 25 a hard cut-off?
No — body composition matters more. Use this as a starting reference.
How fast should I lose?
0.5 kg/week is sustainable and preserves lean mass.
Should I aim for the lower end?
Not necessarily — most metabolic gains plateau around BMI 22–24.
